Check their Solar Power Suitability Map first, it tells you whether your circuit can even take the system before you apply. Then a two-part application: part one before construction, part two after. documented
Precise clocks, from their own page: review confirmation within 3 business days, engineering determination within 18, approval or denial email within 21, and construction only after approval. After the UCC certificate: inspection outcome within 25 business days, meter swapped to bidirectional immediately on a pass, then the PTO notice authorizes turn-on. documented
Level 1 under 10 kW has no fee and no liability insurance requirement, the form says so explicitly. documented
The DIY catch: PSE&G's own FAQ answers the self-install question with a flat no, you must hire a solar contractor, even though the statewide NJ form contemplates owner-installers. Expect friction here that JCP&L doesn't give you. documented
