Small and DIY interconnection requirements
Old-school application flow: submit online, receive a printable version by email, then sign and physically mail it with the application fee. It's only complete once the signed form, fee, and single-line diagram are in, then review and approval to proceed. Application and fee expire after one year idle. documented
No net metering since April 2024: it's real-time net billing. You pay retail for what you draw, exports earn the Export Credit Rate, a variable avoided-cost figure locked until an April 2028 filing and annually adjustable after. Size to self-consumption. documented
A formal non-export option exists under Schedule 68, residential cap 25 kW AC, covering both the technical export-prevention and how they verify it. Relevant: Idaho Power's own pages point to the state Building Safety bulletin warning against plug-and-play inverters, no plug-in law here. documented
Credit quirks: excess generation credits transfer to another account only once a year, request by Jan 31 for a March transfer, and unused credits are paid out on your final bill if you leave the territory. documented
